  • Should landlords pay tax on rental income?

HMRC announced that they will be targeting landlords who should be paying tax on their rental income. This has been announced following their discovery that fewer than 500,000 landlord tax payers are registered with HMRC, when they believe it should be closer to 1.4 million. It is estimated that these landlords are responsible for over £550 million of tax revenue.

  • Average rental figures and the spring outlook

Most newspaper articles and press releases will lead you to believe that London is having its own little property boom, with the rest of the UK lagging behind. It would be fair to say that we are not at London levels but Scotland has seen rental increases in the last year and as we move through into Spring 2014, the outlook looks good - particularly in Edinburgh and the Lothians.

Had a great experience renting with Fineholm from the first viewing. The move in process was easy, staff were really friendly ( especially reception staff!) and although I didn’t have many repairs the ones I did have were fixed fast. Moved back home now but would rent with them again...
