Best Areas for Students to Live in Glasgow30 Jun 2017
Location is one of the most important factors that most students look at when they are picking where to live in Glasgow, student blocks are springing up everywhere but let’s be honest they are seriously expensive and you might decide that you want something with a little less of an institutional feel!
If you are studying at Glasgow University…
You probably want to stay West so if budget is not an issue, Hillhead or Partick is the spot for you…it’s pricey but convenient and has a cool vibe… with uni on your doorstep and all the bars, cafes and places to eat right there. 1 beds from £525pcm , 2 beds from £700pcm and 3 bed HMOs from £900pcm.
Want to stay West but need to lessen the budget? Try Whiteinch , Thornwood or Anniesland , prices generally £50-100 PCM less than West End…
Strathclyde Uni is your spot…
City Centre , Dennistoun, New Gorbals are all good options for you.
City Centre is obviously going to be costly , depending on the quality of the accommodation but you’re looking at £550pcm plus for a 1 bed , £800 for a 2 bed and 3 bed HMO is going to be £1000 plus ( and they are scarce!) merchant city is the most expensive spot ( and closest to the uni, sorry!) but if you expand a little it can be a bit cheaper , so try Garnethill or Townhead, Cowcaddens or Glasgow Green.
Dennistoun can be a great option if you are studying at Strathclyde, big flats with sizable rooms and a bohemian feel about the streets. Easy to get into the Uni, with 1 beds from£475pcm, 2 beds from £575pcm and 3 beds from 750 PCM.
New Gorbals is another great option for you, still within walking distance of the uni I but a good chunk cheaper, with modern flats ( think about the bills!) and parking… mainly 2 beds in this area , priced around £650 – £695pcm.
