Glasgow City Centre – a guide to the areas

Are you new to the city, maybe you are going to be moving here to study or you are moving with work, and you know you want to live in town – just a bit unsure where would suit you?

We thought we would put together a quick guide to the different areas within the city center itself. Glasgow is a sprawling city but if you are keen to live right in the thick of things then Glasgow city center might be the place for you. By Glasgow city we are talking about the city centre itself and up to ¼ mile surrounding it. Glasgow is a fantastic place to live if you love shopping, fashion, bars, clubs, amazing restaurants and more cultural attractions like going to the theatre, concerts and film.

Glasgow’s main shopping area is divided into a few main streets – Buchannan Street, Sauchiehall St and Argyle St – mostly commercial premises around here, not much residential living. Glasgow’s Style Mile should appeal to any fashion conscious visitor or new comer to the city. All the areas below are within walking distance of each other
