January Detox06 May 2016
So like everyone else I’m on a January detox and have purchased myself a nutribullet to make my GREEN juice for the morning. I’m not sure when this fad of the GREEN juice arose but it certainly seems to be very popular.
I started to think about the popularity of paint colours and how this has changed over the last 10 years. When I go out to look at new properties many clients ask if they should touch up the paintwork before marketing. It is a difficult question as touching up paintwork can sometimes make the rest of the house seem tired. Depending on the clients circumstances I would normally recommend to repaint throughout instead of a touch up as a fresh coat of paint can really improve the feel on the property. The next questions they ask is should they stick with the same colour?
Now depending on when they last decorated the colour scheme may now be old fashioned, gone are the days of yellows, creams and magnolia and now whites and greys seem to be very popular. I love the grey scheme but it can be over used and if you pick the wrong shade of grey then it can look lilac. I moved house last year and before placing on the market I redecorated and used neutral colours with an accent of green and grey in the hall and lounge. I appreciate this may not be everyone’s taste but it certainly improved the look of the house for a relatively small amount of money and did increase the value of our home.
I think if you are thinking about selling or renting in the near future and are perhaps carrying out some redecoration before marketing don’t be afraid to add a little colour, perhaps use an accent colour in your hall or lounge. I know everyone is looking to loose pounds in January but for a home owner looking to sell or rent we want the pounds to go on, perhaps the January GREEN detox may work for you.
